Students will learn concepts to guide them to a broad based understanding of political and economic systems with an emphasis on the United States. Each student will better understand events, trends, individuals and movements shaping the history of Illinois, the United States and other nations. Students will learn local, state, national and world geography and will understand the effects of geography on society. Students will study social systems to help them interpret human actions, prepare for careers and to facilitate their lifelong learning.
Students in 7th grade study United States government for one quarter. Students in 8th grade study Illinois government for one quarter. They must pass the Illinois Constitution test as required by ISBE for 8th grade graduation.
