Media

Program and Department Overview

The learning goals of the Kindergarten through Sixth grade Media classes are centered around helping prepare students for use of the school and public libraries to fill informational needs and develop an appreciation for various types of literature and nonfiction.

We support the students’ progression through the I-SAIL (Illinois Standards Aligned Instruction for Libraries) standards as well as developing critical thinking skills, making informed decisions about information, and strong digital citizenship and Internet safety practices.

Additionally, we work to support students in developing solid research skills that can be transferred to high school and beyond. Assessments are administered throughout the course (Standardized Pre-Post Assessments are administered electronically) to ensure student movement through the standards.
