As March 3 marks the end of #ReadAcrossAmericaWeek, we're sharing a recap of some fun literacy-focused events that took place across District 99 this week:

📖 On Wednesday, March 1, students and staff at Drexel Elementary School who were up for a little cosplay dressed up as The Cat in the Hat to celebrate author Dr. Seuss. Did you know — his birthday, March 2, marks the official Read Across America Day?

📖 Also this past Wednesday, Roosevelt's Media Specialist Mary Clare Sabio hosted a special Reading Rocks Pizza Party, celebrating students who had read several Monarch, Bluestem and/or Caudill award-nominated book titles and completed written summaries for each book. Students not only enjoyed some pizza, but also showed off their dance moves and won some cool prizes!

📖 On Friday, March 3, Burnham opened its doors to parents for a special family read aloud day, with parents and other family members participating in group reading activities with their children and their peers.
