Spring Learning at Burnham
Jacqueline Pisano

First Graders at Burnham School are caretakers of our precious planet. Our students have sought an in depth look across four seasons and learned how the cycle of dormancy and growth lives within each tiny seed. With the help of Mr. Randmark's videography expertise and Ms. Buzzelli's passion for bringing the curriculum to life for her students, first graders visited The Wolf Road Prairie. This local prairie is a treasure designated as one of the highest quality natural areas in the state of Illinois by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission. Several times throughout the school year, students watched for signs of changes while collecting scientific data. Through Google Meet, students observed and waited throughout life cycles, while reading and writing about planting themselves! We are proud of our incredibly curious, smart naturalists!
