Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cicero District 99 has continued its commitment to keeping transparency at the forefront of its decision-making processes. 

At this time, following careful thought and deliberation in conjunction with the Town Of Cicero, Illinois State Board of Education, Cook County Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Public Health, District 99 has made the decision to move forward with its gradual plan for the safe return to Hybrid/In-Person Student Instruction.

In addition to maintaining transparency and helping the District gauge next steps in the decision making process in regards to instruction and operation during the pandemic, District 99 has created a 


This dashboard, which includes daily data reported, is broken down to include 

Confirmed Cases: a positive COVID-19 diagnosis confirmed with test results

Probable or suspected cases: including all reports of individuals with any COVID-19 like symptoms

Close contact cases: including self-reporting of staff indicating they were in close contact with a probable or positive case, as defined by the CDC, less than 6 feet for 15 minutes of more cumulative

Broken down by school and District building, the dashboard is categorized to include daily totals of each of the three types of cases for both students and staff. 

In accordance with recommended best health practices and to alleviate concerns of community safety, District 99 has implemented a variety of measures and protocols to ensure a safe and healthy return for students in district buildings, including:

Daily, deep sanitization of all buildings, classrooms and shared spaces

Adherence to the daily COVID-19 symptom screening checklist for all staff

Installation of protective barriers in high traffic areas

Reorganization of shared spaces to ensure social distancing 

Modifications to HVAC systems to increase operation and number of air changes per hour

Posting of flyers throughout all District buildings to remind of safety and health protocols

With these enhanced safety metrics put into place, District 99 continues to do its best to ensure the risk of infection within district buildings remains low.

Please note that during the time District 99's Hybrid/In-Person Learning Model is in place, families are still provided with the option to remain in remote instruction.

In District 99, balancing safety while ensuring the educational needs of all students remains paramount. On a daily basis, District 99 continues to monitor and follow all the latest guidelines to ensure the continued wellbeing of students and staff.
