Ms. Schultz

Students in Ms. Schultz's first grade class have been learning about Chinese New Year, which begins this year on Sat, Jan. 25 and lasts for 15 days according to the lunar calendar. In China, boys and girls get ready by getting haircuts and new clothes. Everyone cleans house to get rid of any bad luck from the year before. This year, 2020, is the Year of the Rat. The Chinese zodiac consists of a 12-year cycle. Students in the class were born in 2012, the Year of the Dragon or 2013, the Year of the Snake. The dragon and the color red are signs of good luck in China and in many Asian countries. The class each made a dragon and they wish you Gung Hay Fat Choy!
