Fifth graders in Room 205 have been learning about living things and ecosystems! Students discussed how some animals only eat animals, and some animals only eat plants. Next, students chose animals from an ecosystem and researched a producer, first stage consumer, and second stage consumer. After writing a short blurb to educate the audience, they connected the organisms to make a food chain and inserted arrows to show that energy in an ecosystem moves in one direction. Lastly, the class developed a model of a food web by connecting the different food chain organisms and discussed how matter moves through the ecosystem in a cycle.
Way to go Room 205!
