Ms. Harsha's first graders read a nonfiction book all about pizza and where pizza ingredients come from.
Students practiced asking questions throughout the week, which has been their reading strategy focus. Some students were wondering how long it takes to make a pizza, or how water and flour make dough. After reading, the class took note of what was learned from the text.
Lots of students were surprised to learn that cows help make cheese. The culminating event was to use the recipe in the text to help make their own class pizza.
Reading can be informative, but also delicious!
