Third graders in Ms. Irvine-Caravello's class explored the magical world of magnets this week.
Students first made predictions on which items would be attracted to the magnets. Next, the students worked in cooperative groups investigating the different materials with a horseshoe magnet. They compared their predictions and results following the lab, and then continued their research to find out what all these items had in common.
Students then concluded through their research that items are made up of iron, steel and cobalt would always be attracted to magnets.
