Nuclear waste investigation

Ms. Vana

Miss Vana's sixth grade Science classes are trying to determine a central location to store nuclear waste in the United States. In this activity, students investigated how water interacts with certain earth materials. They observed how water flows through tubes filled with sand and clay. In doing so, students learned that aquifers form in locations with certain geological features. Students considered how the location of aquifers in the United States might influence their decisions where to store nuclear waste.
