The Science Department fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the natural world. Through hands-on exploration, scientific inquiry, and real-world application, students develop the knowledge and skills to ask questions, investigate answers, and solve meaningful problems.
Our mission is to ignite a lifelong passion for science by engaging all students in rigorous, relevant, and inquiry-based instruction that prepares them to think and act like scientists—both today and in the future.
Science classrooms in District 99 are active, student-centered environments where learners explore real-world questions, conduct investigations, and use evidence to draw conclusions. Science is not just content—it’s a way of thinking and learning.
At every grade level, carefully selected Priority Learning Standards guide instruction across Life, Physical, and Earth Science domains. From kindergarten on, students “do science” rather than just read about it—designing tests, collecting and analyzing data, and clearly communicating their results as they develop into skilled scientific thinkers.
