Today, while all Cicero District 99 teachers and staff stepped back into their buildings to prepare for the new school year, Sherlock Elementary School stole the show — and our hearts. 

Principal Joanna Lago pulled off the ultimate welcome back surprise for her staff: a full-on community parade!

👋Sidewalks were lined with community members waving and cheering
☀️Families got a jump start on those early mornings before Wednesday's first bell
🍬Teachers walked the neighborhood, passing out candy and Attendance Matters flyers
🎨 Students made colorful signs filled with love for their teachers
🤗 There were hugs, smiles, and pure joy at every turn

From start to finish, Sherlock turned "back-to-school prep" into a block party of connection, creativity, and community pride. What better way to remind everyone that school isn't just a place — it's family.
