✨ NATIONAL RECOGNITION: SHERLOCK TEACHER JOANNA GOLDBERG NAMED CURRICULUM ASSOCIATES EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATOR 🏆

Posted Date: 04/17/26 (02:37 PM)

Cicero District 99 is bursting with pride as we celebrate one of our very own — Sherlock Elementary School 3rd Grade Teacher, Joanna Goldberg — for being named an Extraordinary Educator by Curriculum Associates, the creators of i-Ready, the math program used across our District.

Out of educators from across the entire country, Ms. Goldberg was selected as just 1 of 26 teachers nationwide to receive this incredible honor — a recognition reserved for educators who go above and beyond in transforming student learning and achievement.

This award reflects what our Sherlock community already knows: Joanna Goldberg is truly exceptional.

Her classroom is built on innovation, engagement, and an unwavering belief that every student can succeed. Through her thoughtful use of i-Ready Diagnostic data, end-of-unit assessments, and other learning tools, she helps students not only understand where they are academically — but also where they can go.

Her guiding philosophy says it all:

"Every data point is a student's story. Listen closely and respond intentionally."

This mindset drives her approach to instruction every single day. She uses data not as numbers on a page, but as a way to understand students deeply, set meaningful goals with them, celebrate growth, and ensure every child feels seen, supported, and capable of success.

Ms. Goldberg is an advocate for high standards, a champion for strong student outcomes, and a true believer that excellence should be accessible for all learners. Her dedication has led to measurable growth and achievement for her students — and now, national recognition for the extraordinary work happening right here in Cicero.

To celebrate this well-deserved honor, Ms. Goldberg's 3rd grade team, her students, and Sherlock Elementary administrators planned a surprise celebration filled with joy, pride, and appreciation. The moment became even more special when her family surprised her as well — making it a truly unforgettable recognition for someone who gives so much of herself to her students every day.

This award is a reflection of the excellence happening in Cicero District 99 classrooms every day.

Congratulations, Ms. Goldberg! Your passion, leadership, and commitment to children inspire us all. Thank you for showing what extraordinary education looks like!
