Cicero District 99 Board of Education announces two-year contract extension for Superintendent Aldo Calderin
Effective Wednesday, June 10, the Cicero District 99 Board of Education has formally approved a two-year contract extension for Superintendent Aldo Calderin, securing his leadership through the 2028-2029 academic year.
The Board of Education’s decision reflects Calderin’s demonstrated commitment to student success, strengthening of staff collaboration fostering positive relationships across school communities and dedication to long-term strategic growth since first being appointed superintendent in the spring of 2021.
“Dr. Calderin not only moved us forward after the pandemic, but helped achieve numerous board of education goals, especially the extended school day,” said Tom Tomschin, District 99 board president. “He has proven time and time again to be a transformational leader, and we are happy he is part of the D99 family.”
During his tenure, Calderin has been a steadfast advocate for the support of large-scale capital improvement projects, including the construction of the new Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center — expanding on the District’s goal of prioritizing early childhood education — and a new District Registration Center, alongside additional school building and office modernization projects.
Calderin has also successfully continued to oversee ongoing district-wide initiatives to transform student success, including modernized 1:1 classroom technology, the District’s growth of Special Education and Multilingual support services, and the maximization of student growth through school attendance initiatives and ongoing staff development opportunities, including dedicated professional development for staff in the Science of Learning.
Over Calderin’s five-year tenure, the District has steadily prioritized four key goals — enhanced communication, stronger foundational instruction, better assessments for improved outcomes, and well-being support for students and staff.
“I am honored to continue having the opportunity to serve the Cicero community as superintendent,” Calderin said. “The students, staff and entire community deserve the very best educational opportunities, and I am committed to providing top-quality services for all as we move forward together.”
