👔 THEY SPENT THEIR LIVES TAKING CARE OF US. NOW, IT WAS OUR TURN! 🫶
Some of the strongest men we will ever know are the ones who never asked for recognition.Â
They woke up before sunrise, worked long days, put food on the table, fixed what was broken, and carried burdens their families never even knew about. They taught us how to ride a bike, how to shake a hands, how to keep our word, and how to keep going when life gets tough. They didn't always have the perfect words, but they showed their love through every sacrifice they made.Â
For Father's Day, Cicero District 99 students and administrative staff had the honor of giving a little of that love back.Â
At the Cicero Community Center, our senior citizens — many of them fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers — gathered to enjoy a special Father's Day BBQ generously provided by Town of Cicero President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees. There were free burgers, hot dogs, piña coladas, free haircuts, plenty of laughter, and countless smiles.Â
But the greatest gift wasn't on the menu.Â
It was seeing the joy in the eyes of the men who have spent a lifetime taking care of others.Â
It was watching generations connect. It was hearing stories that carried decades of memories.Â
It was being reminded that behind every family, every success story, and every thriving community, there are fathers and grandfathers whose love helped make it all possible.Â
As we looked around the room, we didn't just see senior citizens. We saw men who worked overtime so their children could have opportunities. Men who missed sleep so their families could have security. Men who stood quietly in the background while making sure everyone else could shine.Â
Today, we celebrate them.Â
Because no matter how old we get, we never outgrow the lessons, strength, and love of a father.Â
To every dad, grandfather, and father figure in our community: thank you for every sacrifice that went unnoticed, every lesson that stayed with us, and every act of love that helped shape who we are today.Â
You are appreciated. You are respected. You are loved.Â
And here in Cicero, we will never stop celebrating the men who helped build the foundation for generations to come.Â
Happy Father's Day! 💙
