🏀 HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS. EIGHT SPORTS. THREE WEEKS. ONE RECORD-BREAKING SUMMER! ⚽
Last week, Cicero District 99 officially wrapped up three incredible weeks of Summer Sports Camps — and this year's program was our biggest yet!
With hundreds of incoming 4th-8th grade students participating, our gyms, fields, tracks, courts, and dance spaced were filled each day with energy, determination, teamwork, and school pride.
Students had the opportunity to sharpen existing skills, discover new talents, and build confidence while participating in Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Track & Field, Soccer, Cross Country, Bowling, and Dance.
The majority of our camps were hosted at Unity Junior High School, where students trained both indoors in our air-conditioned facilities and outdoors using our outstanding athletic spaces. We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Town Hall Bowl and Morton West High School for partnering with us and allowing us to utilize their facilities for our Bowling and Track & Field camps.
At District 99, we believe athletics are about much more than wins and losses.
Sports teach students how to work together, overcome adversity, lead by example, communicate effectively, stay committed, and keep pushing forward even when challenges arise. They build confidence, strengthen character, encourage healthy lifestyles, and create friendships that often last well beyond the final whistle. The lessons learned through athletics frequently become the same qualities that help students succeed in the classroom, in future careers, and throughout life.
This is why District 99 continues to make a significant investment in providing high-quality athletic opportunities for our students.
To all of our dedicated coaches — thank you. Your time, preparation, encouragement, and commitment helped make these camps an unforgettable experience. The impact you make extends far beyond teaching a sport. You are helping shape confident, resilient young people who are prepared for success both on and off the field.
And to our incoming 5th-8th grade students, we encourage you to stay involved! Participating in school athletics is one of the best ways to build friendships, represent your school, develop new skills, and making lasting moments. If you're interested in joining a team this school year, be sure to speak with your PE teacher to learn about the athletic opportunities available at your school.
Thank you to every student, family, coach, staff member, and community partner who helped make another unforgettable summer possible.
Here's to an exciting school year ahead — we can't wait to see what our student-athletes accomplish next!
