🏆 HAPPY NATIONAL COACHES DAY! 🍎

When you hear the word "coach," you might picture someone on the sidelines with a whistle around their neck.

But who coaches the teachers? In Cicero District 99, some of our coaches can be found in classrooms, planning meetings and schools across our community —  helping great educators become even better.

Today, on National Coaches Day, we're celebrating our incredible Building Coaches and District Curriculum Coaches! 👏

So, what exactly does an instructional coach do?

They listen. They collaborate. They plan alongside teachers. They model lessons and instructional strategies. They help educators look at student learning and ask, "What's working? What can we strengthen? And what does this student need from us next?"

Our Building Coaches are right there in our schools, partnering with teachers and administrators and helping connect big instructional goals with what actually happens in classrooms every single day.

Our District Curriculum Coaches bring specialized knowledge and support across District 99, helping strengthen curriculum, professional learning and instructional practices while supporting the coaches and educators working throughout our schools.

And here's what makes their work so powerful:

When a coach helps one teacher grow, the impact doesn't stop with that teacher.

It reaches an entire classroom. Then another classroom. And another. Year after year. 

A coach may never be the person standing at the front of your child's classroom — but their fingerprints can be found in the lessons, strategies, resources and professional learning happening throughout our District.

Great schools don't happen because great educators are expected to figure everything out alone. Great educators deserve coaches, too.

So today, Cicero District 99 proudly says THANK YOU to all of our Building Coaches and District Curriculum Coaches for being mentors, collaborators, problem-solvers, encouragers and champions of great teaching.
