💙 APPRECIATING OUR PRINCIPALS! 💙
Posted Date: 10/26/26 (11:01 AM)
October is Principal Appreciation Month, and at Cicero District 99, we have the privilege of recognizing the people who carry an incredible responsibility every single day. Being a principal isn't easy. There are early mornings, long days, difficult decisions, unexpected challenges, and responsibilities that don't simply disappear when the school day ends. There are moments of celebration, moments of frustration, an days when everything seems to happen at once. Yet through it all, our principals continue to show up for their students, their staff, and their families because they know just how much is at stake.
What many people don't see are the little things. The student who walks into the office having a difficult morning and leaves feeling a little better. The teacher who needed someone to listen. The parent who was worried about their child and found someone willing to help. The quiet conversations, the second chances, the problems solved behind the scenes, and the countless time a principal puts someone else's needs ahead of their own. These moments rarely make headlines or appear in a school newsletter, but they are often the moments that matter most.
And that's what makes the role of a principal so important. A school isn't just a building where children come to learn. It's a place where they grow, make mistakes, discover their strengths, build friendships, and begin to figure out who they want to become. The person leading that school helps shape the experience of every child and every adult who walks through its doors. A principal may never know how much a simple conversation meant to a student or how deeply a few encouraging words affected a teacher. But that doesn't mean those moments are forgotten. Sometimes, the smallest gestures leave the biggest impressions.
To the principals of Cicero District 99, thank you. Thank you for the work everyone sees and, perhaps even more importantly, for the work so many never will. Thank you for the patience it takes to listen, the courage it takes to make difficult decisions, and the heart it takes to care about hundreds of children as individuals, each with their own stories, struggles, and dreams. Thank you for standing beside our teachers, working with our families, and giving so much of yourselves to the schools and communities you serve.
Years from now, our students may not remember every lesson, every assembly, or every school day. But they will remember the people who made them feel safe, valued, capable, and important.
And for some of those students, that person will be the principal standing in this photograph.
Happy Principal Appreciation Month!
