👏 OUR OUTSTANDING OT'S! 💙
Posted Date: 10/27/26 (10:30 AM)
Today on World Occupational Therapy Day, we're shining a well-deserved spotlight on our D99 Occupational Therapists (OTs)!
In schools, Occupational Therapists bring a unique understanding of how children develop the skills they use throughout the school day.
And their work reaches into more areas of school life than you might imagine!
✏️ Writing & Classroom Activities: From developing fine motor skills to exploring different ways to use pencils, scissors, and learning materials, OTs help make everyday classroom activities more accessible.
🧩 Movement & Coordination: They support the physical skills involved in navigating classroom routines, handling school supplies, and participating in educational activities.
🧠 Focus & Sensory Regulation: Classrooms are busy places! OTs help identify strategies and adjustments that support attention, comfort, and participation throughout the school day.
🎒 Independence & Everyday Routines: Whether it's organizing materials, managing personal belongings, or building skills for daily school activities, OTs help encourage greater independence.
🤝 Working Alongside Our Educators: One of the most valuable parts of their work happens through collaboration. Our OTs partner with teachers, families, and other school professionals to develop practical approaches that support students' educational experiences.
And here's what makes their work so meaningful.
Sometimes, the smallest adjustments can make the biggest difference in how a school day goes.
A different way to hold a pencil. A classroom tool that makes an activity easier to complete. A change in how materials are arranged. A strategy that makes a daily routine run more smoothly.
Things most of us might never think twice about.
But our Occupational Therapists do.
They pay attention to the details. They think creatively. They understand that learning involves much more than what's written in a textbook, and they bring that knowledge into our schools every day.
Their work is a reminder that a successful school day isn't just about what students learn. It's also about creating opportunities for them to participate, grow, build confidence, and become more independent along the way.
And that's something worth celebrating!
To our dedicated Cicero District 99 Occupational Therapists, THANK YOU!
Thank you for the expertise you bring to our schools, the care you put into your work, and the countless ways you collaborate with our educators to support meaningful learning experiences.
Much of what you do happens quietly, without applause or recognition. But that doesn't make it any less important.
Some of the most valuable contributions to education happen in the little details of an ordinary school day. And you help make those details count.
🌎 Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! We're proud to recognize and celebrate our District 99 Occupational Therapists and the important role they play in our school community!
