Our Social Studies Department empowers students to become informed, responsible, and active citizens. Through the study of history, geography, civics, economics, and culture, students learn to think critically, understand diverse perspectives, and make meaningful connections between the past and present.
Rooted in the inquiry model, our approach encourages students to ask compelling questions, analyze evidence, and draw informed conclusions. We follow the Illinois Social Science Learning Standards, which emphasize Inquiry Skills, Civics, Geography, Economics/Financial Literacy, and History.
Our mission is to provide a rich and inclusive education that promotes dialogue, civic responsibility, and global awareness. We aim to develop compassionate thinkers who: Understand their roles and responsibilities in a democratic society. Recognize and value diversity in a multicultural world. Examine how rights, freedoms, and values evolve over time. Analyze the impact of historical and current events. Grow as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and informed decision-makers.
